crush2dust, the electronic solo project of Ritwik Krishnan, is of its era: polished, experimental, and scratchingly catchy. Growing up in San Jose, CA, Ritwik cut his teeth in high school as a frontman for indie rock band The Cautious. However, fueled by the internet and obsessions with the rise of Soundcloud electronic music, his college apartment became a breeding ground for his mature songwriting and genres like Drum & Bass, Hyperpop, and Ambient Pop. Out of these early years of experimentation came a substance-driven sound fueled by a backbone of electronic peaks, dissonances, and releases that burn like a sparkler. Krishnan willfully reinvents indie electronica, aspiring to mainstream appeal while simultaneously pulling in those most jaded by the derivative releases of the modern underground.
